Well the quarter finals are done and dusted.  Two office members have survived and progressed to the semi-finals and we now have two more unlucky losers.  The big question now is which office member will make the final?

Tom (Me) – Spain
Spain make the semi-finals at the expense of Carrie’s Italy with a 4-2 win on penalties after a 0-0 bore draw.  Spain didn’t look as impressive as during the group stage, but should be fairly confident in their rematch against Mat’s Russia after their 4-1 victory in the group stage.

Chris – France – Eliminated at the group stage
With France long gone, Chris is busy with a mix of work, worrying about Ronaldo leaving Man Utd, and planning ahead for the fast approaching fantasy football season.

Mat – Russia
Just like Mat tipped them, Russia have gone from being dark horses to serious contenders after knocking out one of the favourites in Holland with a 3-1 win in extra time.  An improving Russia side will be looking for revenge against Spain in the semi-finals, with Mat hoping they overcome Spain and face Germany in the final.
 
Jason – Portugal
A below par performance by Portugal led them to a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Germany and ruined the chance of a fairytale ending to Luiz Felipe Scolari’s reign as Portugal coach.  With the Portuguese players’ tournament now over, they can afford to indulge themselves in some of their native cuisine, with Jason not too far behind no doubt.

Carrie – Italy
Carrie’s Italy looked far from impressive with a rather negative performance against Spain.  The current World Champions have missed out on becoming the European Champions as well, but Carrie doesn’t seem overly disappointed surprisingly enough.
