With the football season finished, Manchester United reigning supreme much to Chris' delight, Crocodile Dundee Utd missing out on the Fantasy Football League Title by 11 points and my team (Coventry City) doing their best to get relegated but somehow avoiding the feat, all looks quiet on the footballing front.  With no football banter flying around the office, the design team should have a productive few months here at Dynamics.  But fear not, Euro 2008 is starting in just over a week, which begs the question, who will you be supporting?

Thanks to Steve McLaren, England will be spared the heartache of another quarter final exit to Portugal and with no other home nations present in Austria and Switzerland, the choice of which nation to support is a difficult one.  In order to help you choose, I’ll let you in on who the Dynamics Team are supporting.

Tom (Me) – Spain
Spain replace England as the perennial underachievers, so it’s the natural choice for any self-respecting England fan.  Despite this, Spain have a pretty good chance of winning it.  With current European Champions Greece, Russia and Sweden in their group, the Spanish must be expected to get to the knock-out stages without too much trouble and with players like Iker Casillas, Carlos Puyol, Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres and David Villa, they are on paper one of the best teams in the tournament.

Chris – France
Seeing as Chris is sunning himself in the south of France, no doubt swigging a Kronenbourg as I write this (and does not wish to be disturbed, even for comment on this important matter), there is only one logical choice.  With the added Manchester United connection in Patrice Evra, I’m sure Chris will be hoping France go one better than World Cup 2006.

Mat – Russia
As a West Brom fan, Mat has gone for another unfancied team in Russia with Andrei Arshavin the man to look out for.  Mat is once again gunning for office glory after comfortably beating Chris and myself in the Fantasy Football, and always favours an outsider, who may have more of a chance than most would expect, especially after qualifying ahead of England for the tournament.  Mat being the betting man, suggests a Russia v Germany final could be great value at 33/1.

Jason – Portugal
If you’ve read Jason’s blog, you’ll know he’s a huge fan of Portugal, although probably not just for the football.  If the Portuguese players have laid off the food, which I’m not sure Jason mentioned, then they have as much of a chance as anyone else of coming home with the trophy considering the one man show that is Cristiano Ronaldo in their team.

Carrie – Italy
Carrie initially said Liverpool, then Brazil, but then settled on Italy on being told who was actually playing in the tournament.  Probably a safe bet with Italy being the current World Champions, but just to be on the safe side, don’t go asking Carrie for her opinion on anything else football related.
