The Script Gig - Camden

by Jason 15. February 2009 21:42

Valentines weekend off with a bang!

Buzzing off early on Friday, and thanks to the Xmas pressie from the Dynamics team, I started this weekend by seeing 2008 breakthrough act The Script (one of my favourite new bands) at Camden's Round House.  Stayed in Regents Park (not literally obviously) and took a client-recommendation to eat at the weirdly fantastic Gilgamesh by the Stables Market in Camden, before the gig. Food (sushi, crispy duck, dim-sum, rump steaks and a mad dessert) was great, and the place generally first rate so cheers to Kate at the Embassy in Mayfair for that!

Gig - venue was cool enough, quite intimate as only takes couple of thousands or so. Watched another very good band called Gary Go first, another breakthrough act and very much like the Script actually; could have been them!  We missed Will & The People (currently supporting the Hoosiers) who went on early, but I did spend the rest of the gig chatting with their vocalist Will Rendle and his brothers, whilst watching the other acts.

Glad to report that main act The Script did not disappoint, and took the whole night up a level. Only played for an an hour, but then they've only got about twelve songs down I guess! All in all, great night and a banging start to Valentine's weekend in London... thanks again guys!

9 Lives Band, Funkstar, GI Orange?

by Jason 5. October 2008 09:34

So, which of Dynamics' staff spend their free-time in rock and pop bands?!

At Dynamics, we're all into our music.  Within our Towcester-based team, there's three guitar players, a drummer, a keyboard player and two performing vocalists!

Carrie is a veteran singer, with hundreds of live gigs in all-girl groups and some recordings under her belt. She's currently leading her band Funkstar, as well as being a vocalist in a professional function band; go girl!

Gary is an ex full-time musician - a professional drummer. His band - GI Orange - had great success in the Far East, releasing albums & videos, earning a gold disc AND achieving a number one record by knocking Duran Duran off the No 1 spot! A very accomplished music nut!

Jason is primarily a lead-vocalist but also plays electric & acoustic guitar, having performed in UK bands, recording studios and even completing a 3-month tour in Austria!  He also owns MK's number one music shop Hollywood Music and is currently frontman & lead-vocalist in Rock & Pop band '9 Lives'.

Mat plays some guitar & keyboards, mainly for fun - unless you happen to be listening :-)

Where do we find time? Well, mostly we never sleep...

And now you know..!

Screaming Santana Gig!

by Jason 22. June 2008 17:13

Friday night (20 June) - as if moving offices wasn't enough excitement in one day - I went to see Santana on his Live Your Light tour. Those of you that know us will know we're into our music, and the tickets were bought as a birthday present for me by my colleagues.

What can I say about the gig though - completely mesmerising! Absolutely fantastic in every way. Thirteen of the world's best musicians on one stage, creating a real carnival atmosphere within minutes that lasted over two hours. We were totally immersed and in awe of the performance, I highly recommend seeing him if you have the chance.

It's incredible to experience yet at the same time of course, makes you want to give up any instrument you play! It was the most perfectly executed musical display I've experienced, in over 20 years of attending shows. Hugely entertaining and fun, and a masterclass in how to do it right.  Santana was supported by the UK's own Beverley Knight, who was also awesome. Shame she did only five numbers, as I could have listened to that soulful funky-vibe all night too!

A great night out and a real treat at the end of a tough day moving offices. Thank you again guys!
